Plus, in many cases, you'll get paid for doing it.

The Research Apprentice Program (RAP) offers you an opportunity to apply what you learn in the classroom to discover new knowledge, solve real-world problems, pursue creative endeavors and develop professionally while working for a faculty member on a scholarly or creative project.
RAP is a paid, mentored learning experience, and includes specially-designed workshops that will introduce and invite you into a community of scholars where you'll gain a better understanding of what research and creative artistry entail and why people do it.
The Summer Scholars program allows intellectually curious, motivated students to team with a professor on a compelling research question.
Through this eight-week, in-residence experience, you'll gain research and communication skills, learn more about the University’s scholarly resources, and become better problem solvers.
Plus, you'll earn a $4,160 stipend and housing allowance while working 40 hours per week. In addition, there are workshops and seminars throughout the summer to inspire a lifetime of curiosity and dedication to solving the issues facing our world.
Christopher Newport University provides funds to support student research and creative projects each semester. These $1,500 awards are designed to support independent research and creative work inspired by your coursework or something that interests you based on faculty expertise.
We encourage students to expand the boundaries of exploration and provides funds up to $500 to eligible undergraduates traveling either regionally, nationally or internationally to present research or creative work or to collect research data.
