Care Team Support
Christopher Newport’s Strategic Compass asks the members of campus to create a stronger culture of inclusion and belonging. The CNU Care Team aids in this collective effort by helping to identify student needs and concerns through our Care Team.
The Care Team is located on the third floor of the David Student Union, Suite 3127. We are able to meet with students Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. A student can reach out to the Care Team to set up a meeting by email, phone or stop by the office. During our meetings with students we discuss resources on and off campus that we hope will assist students in their personal and academic wellbeing. Care Team can support students in many ways:
- Academic concerns
- Family concerns
- Financial hardships
- Friendship challenges
- Homesickness
- Mental health challenges
- Relationship concerns
- Social concerns
- Unexpected family emergencies
The Care Team is composed of staff whose main goal is to find the best way to support students and provide an optimal educational and community environment. Some concerns may present with more complexity and with the potential of a larger impact to the community. Care Team staff may refer these concerns to other offices or Student Affairs administration as needed.
