Our Next President

Christopher Newport has embarked on a national search for a new president. We plan for the next president to take office in the summer of 2023.

Building upon the platform of Christopher Newport’s transformation over the past 25 years, we are seeking a president who will play a defining role in shaping the future of the institution, developing new and additional priorities and aspirations, and leading the university to even greater levels of excellence.

With the help of our national search firm, Buffkin/Baker, we have concluded the planning and preparation phase, and we are moving to the active recruitment phase.

The leadership profile below was developed with broad and collective input from the Christopher Newport community. The purpose of the profile is to provide prospective candidates with information about the university, the position of president, and the opportunities and challenges that the new president and the university will have in the coming years.
