The Department of Sociology, Social Work and Anthropology’s mission is to present the intellectual foundations of sociology, social work, anthropology, criminology and geography. Built on a foundation of strong liberal arts, our programs are mindful of each discipline’s responsibility to mentor students who will be engaged citizens in a multicultural, diverse and global society.
Our instructional mission is to provide students with knowledge and skills that are applicable to a broad range of settings and to prepare students for jobs, graduate school and beyond. The Department of Sociology, Social Work and Anthropology emphasizes each discipline’s core concepts, theories, and methodologies, and leads students to think critically about the world we inhabit.
