Leadership Adventure
To officially welcome you to the Christopher Newport community of Captains, students accepted into the President’s Leadership Program are invited to join us on campus this summer for one of the highlights of the PLP experience: Leadership Adventure.
During this four-day, fun-filled camp experience, you will live on campus and participate in leadership development sessions, team-building events and outdoor activities, all designed to introduce you to the program and to members of your PLP class.
As you engage in a process of self-discovery, you will also get your first taste of the academic study of leadership.
Leadership Adventure is required for all first-year students accepted into the President’s Leadership Program. Your Leadership Adventure and Setting Sail freshman orientation dates will coincide, making for an exciting, information-packed introduction to PLP and life at Christopher Newport.
All incoming PLP students will be assigned to a color cabin with 8-12 of their peers and have the opportunity to work with two upperclassmen facilitators throughout the week. These facilitators will guide you through activities designed to help you better understand your leadership skills and what it means to be a successful PLP student. Facilitators will reach out via email in June to let you know which color cabin you will be a part of this summer.
All Incoming PLP students are required to attend one session of Leadership Adventure.
Dates for Leadership Adventure 2025 will be announced later this fall!
