There is a $30 non-refundable registration fee per family that goes to underwrite the cost of many of the events throughout Family Weekend.

Your registration covers a welcome bag, access to the fitness center and attendance at the following events:

  • Nature's Classroom: Noland Trail Hike with Dr. Kip Redick
  • Alumni Legacy Tailgate (for legacy families)

  • CAB's Student Music Festival
  • Cornhole Tournament and Open Play
  • Men's Soccer Games

  • The Family Leadership Challenge

  • Annual Musical showcase

There is no additional cost, however, you must list them as a guest on the registration form and indicate which events they will be attending. If your student does not have a meal plan, you must pay for them to attend the family brunch.

There is no limit!

There is open parking during Family Weekend, with two exceptions. On Friday, Lots L and K will close at 5:00 p.m. On Saturday, the tailgate lots (Lots H, I, K, L) will only be open for those with a valid Tailgate Zone Pass during tailgating hours. After the tailgate ends on Saturday, these lots will be open parking. If you have a valid handicap decal, parking will be available on game day in Lot L and there will be a handicap shuttle that runs from the parking lot to the stadium.

Cars left in tailgate-specific lots on Friday after 11 p.m. will be towed to the campus parking garage. Owners can collect keys and pay the towing fine at the Parking and Transportation Services office.

Lot M will be reserved for the President’s Parent Council and Premier Pass on Saturday morning.

We have a variety of options for eating on or around campus during Family Weekend. Our on-campus venues include Commons dining hall, the Palette Café in the Torggler, Einstein’s Café in the Trible Library and variety of places in the David Student Union. Some popular off-campus restaurants that are nearby are Panera, Aago Indian/Nepalese, Bob Bob Korean Grill, Subway Station, Subway, Tropical Smoothie, Chipotle, The Captains Den, Azzurri Italian, Plaza Azteca, Byrd’s Restaurant, Asian Grill and OMG Sushi.

Yes, you must register them for brunch but there is not an additional charge if they have a meal plan.

Unless campus is closed, Family Weekend will go on. Outdoor events may be canceled as early as the Wednesday before and as late as a few minutes before the event. We will provide an updated schedule for you at packet pickup/registration that reflects any schedule changes made prior to the start of Family Weekend. The most up-to-date schedule will also be at cnu.edu/familyweekend.

All buildings and locations are ADA accessible. We will not have carts available except for transportation from the handicap lot (Lot L) to the entrance of Townebank Stadium for the football game on Saturday.

Football tickets and tailgate passes can be purchased through the athletics ticket office over the phone at (757) 594-7880 or online at cnusports.com. A limited amount of tailgate passes and general admission football tickets will be available through the Family Weekend registration.

You will be able to pick football tickets and/or tailgate passes at Check-in/Registration on Friday. On Saturday, pre-purchased football tickets will be available for pick up at the athletic will call outside TowneBank Stadium. Pre-purchased Tailgate Zone passes will be available for pickup at the entrance to the tailgate in Lot M.

At Family Weekend Check-in and Registration you will be able to pick up all pre-purchased items. If you can't make it to registration, your student is welcome to check-in and pick up your family's materials for you!

Yes! The fitness center will be open for guests 18 and older.

The Captains Locker will be open in-store on Friday at 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. On Saturday they will be outside near the Plaza from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m and at the football game in TowneBank Stadium until the end of halftime. On Sunday, their in store hours are 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
