How to Apply

To be eligible for the Project SEED program, you must meet specific academic and family income requirements, and demonstrate the potential to work in a chemical laboratory.

Students entering their junior or senior year in high school and who have completed at least one high school chemistry course are eligible to apply.

The application deadline is Monday, May 20, 2019. All completed materials must be received by this date.

To apply for Project SEED, you must meet the following three criteria:

  • Rising junior or senior in high school
  • Completion of a course in high school chemistry
  • Interest in science

You must be recognized as economically disadvantaged to be considered for Project SEED. Preference is given to students whose maximum family income does not exceed $50,200 for a family of four or 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines based on family size.

To ensure eligibility, each applicant must provide a copy of a parent's or guardian's income tax forms. This information will be kept confidential and used solely for verifying your eligibility for participation in the Project SEED program.

Please remove (i.e., fully cover up or block) all social security numbers from the tax forms prior to sending.

  • Eligibility to apply for a SEED college scholarship

Each applicant must submit a complete application, including:

  • Completed application form
  • Recommendation letter from a science teacher who knows you and your academic abilities
  • Most recent official high school transcript
