Parking Services

Parking Services manages Christopher Newport’s parking facilities and state vehicle motor pool. CNU is a decal-controlled campus. All visitors must register with Parking Services or University Police in order to park on campus. For parents wishing to purchase a student's parking decal online, the form requires the student to be logged in to CNU Connect. You can also purchase decals at the Parking Services office. If you have received a parking citation please visit the parking portal to pay or appeal a parking citation.

Electric Vehicle Charging

As part of our commitment to sustainability, Christopher Newport provides access to the charging infrastructure necessary for electric, gas-alternative vehicles. Electric vehicles (EVs) help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve campus ambient air quality and help to move CNU toward sustainability. Thanks to a generous gift from the Class of 2018, we have installed a Level-2 SemmaConnect EV charging station on the ground level of the Ferguson Center parking garage, across from the Office of Parking Services. Report issues with the charging station to Parking Services during regular business hours at (757) 594-7129, and to University Police after hours at (757) 594-7777.

Did you know that CNU offers a 20% discount on parking decals for electric and select fuel-efficient vehicles? See if your vehicle qualifies.

Bicycle Registration Program

We offer a bicycle registration program that provides us with your bicycle's make, model and serial number, as well as any unique markings. We will also take a photo of your bicycle for our records. Should your bicycle become missing, this information will assist in the recovery of your property by allowing us to identify the bicycle.

Bicycle registration is available at Parking Services. Simply stop by with your bicycle to register or call us at (757) 594-7129 for more information.

We also offer programs each semester at various times where you can register your bicycle.

Bicycle Recovery Program

Parking Services has an annual initiative to identify bicycles on campus that appear to be unclaimed or abandoned. These bicycles are often found in various states of disrepair, are missing parts or rusted, and are usually found to be unregistered. Bicycles in such condition are tagged by Parking Services to be removed from campus. This program is usually conducted during June and July, and we send email messages to all faculty, staff and students as a reminder.

We encourage members of the CNU community to register their bicycles with Parking Services, which will assist officers in recovering lost or stolen bicycles.
