Freshman Orientation

We are here to support you throughout the transition process, from the moment you accept your offer of admission through your first months on campus. Whether navigating the admitted student system, preparing for orientation or getting set for arrival this fall, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Our orientation process consists of multiple experiences to help you transition to college life.

Setting Sail

Required for all incoming freshmen, Setting Sail is a day-and-a-half overnight orientation for new students and their families. Start meeting your classmates and begin the transition to campus life!

PLP Leadership Adventure

Students accepted into the President's Leadership Program (PLP) are invited to attend PLP Leadership Adventure, a four-day camp experience filled with leadership events and activities to introduce you to PLP and other members of the program.

Welcome Week

The week after you officially move-in to your dorms is Welcome Week! A week meant to get you settled in and ready for classes and life at Christopher Newport with various activities, such as core adviser meetings, crew time and participating in the tradition of signing the Honor Code!
