Resources

Whether you’re transferring from a Virginia community college or another institution, we’re here to help you make a seamless transition to Christopher Newport University. Explore the resources below to plan your path, understand how your credits transfer, and get the support you need every step of the way.

VCCS Advising Supplements

Plan your transfer with confidence. If you’re currently attending a Virginia Community College System (VCCS) school, use our program planning sheets to map your courses with your CNU goals in mind. Review them with your transfer counselor to ensure your credits align with both CNU’s Liberal Learning Core Curriculum and your chosen major.

Assessment of Prior Learning

Get credit for what you already know. Your experiences matter, in and out of the classroom. CNU may award transfer credit for prior military training, professional certifications, coursework, or qualifying exam scores. Submit your documentation to the Transfer Admission team for review and find out how your hard work can count toward your degree.

Course Equivalency Tables

See how your courses transfer.Use our Virginia Community College System Course Equivalent Table and Richard Bland College Course Equivalent Table to see which of your completed classes transfer to Christopher Newport. It’s the fastest way to plan your academic journey and avoid repeating coursework.

Mid-Term Grade Report

Help us understand your academic progress. If you’re currently enrolled in classes while applying to transfer, ask your instructors to complete a Mid-Term Grade Report. This gives our Admission team a snapshot of your current performance and helps us evaluate your application more completely.

Transfer College Report

Verify your standing before transferring. Most transfer applicants are required to submit a Transfer College Report, confirming your enrollment and conduct standing at your current institution. Check with your registrar or student affairs office to complete and submit the form to CNU.
