Administrative Applications

Administrative Software

CNU ITS provides the ability to download, install, and use key software used by personnel across CNU. This category covers software that can be used for a wide variety of functions, but is largely found in an administrative capacity key for running CNU operations.

Artificial Intelligence

CNU provides licensure for a number of applications that utilize Large Language Models (LLMs) for educational, research, and administrative purposes.

Custom Application Development

Some circumstances will require the development of a custom application used for a specific purpose. If that is the case, contact ITS for assistance.

Document Approval

CNU's platform of choice for creating, distributing and signing digital copies of legally-binding documents. CNU retains two instances of Docusign  one for building and testing documents, and the second for binding distribution.

ERP

A category of business software that helps the CNU Registrar manage core processes needed for important campus decisions. These services help centralize organizational data for ease of access by faculty and students.

Mail/Calendar

All faculty, staff and students are provided with e-mail and calendar tools. These are tied to the user's credentials and allow for sending and receiving mail, traditional calendar event booking and appointment pages.

Payment Processing

Financial transactions happening on campus require access to an application capable of processing those payments in exchange for services. CNU ITS maintains separate applications depending on the type of financial transaction involved.

Printing

The ability to print physical documents is supported on campus whenever needed. Depending on your on-campus role, you may be provided varying levels of access to different printing locations.

Communication

Digital Content Platforms

The world's most popular web-based platform for video storage, distribution and viewing. All CNU faculty, staff and students have a YouTube account associated with their CNU login.

Digital Signage

Electronic devices capable of displaying a sequence of visual images. Used throughout campus for event signage and information about campus life.

Telephony

Telephony services cover any telephones provided on the CNU campus, as well as any service that operates over a telephone network.

Video Conferencing

CNU provides video conferencing tools that allow users to use webcams and microphones to hold meetings virtually. Depending on specific roles and tools, these may include polling, recording and breakout rooms.

Web Development

The Web Services team at CNU maintains university websites, while OCPR manages content updates.

Hardware and Computing Devices

Endpoint Administration

The IT process of managing, securing and controlling all devices connected to a network. This includes computers, phones, servers and any other device with the software and connectivity needed to exchange data over the Internet.

Hardware Lifecycle Management

All hardware provided by CNU is considered to have a finite 'lifecycle' during which it can be used for its purpose. Breaking down beyond repair or becoming too out of date to use will end a piece of hardware's life cycle. CNU ITS is responsible for managing the life of all hardware, to ensure that any provided for campus use are sufficiently functional and current for daily use in a modern tech environment.

Loaner Laptops

When faculty or staff are unable to use their assigned computer for whatever reason, ITS is able to loan out temporary hardware until their computer is either returned or replaced.

Software Management

In addition to providing licenses to a number of different types of software, CNU IT services will also provide assistance in obtaining and installing said software whenever needed.

Cable TV

CNU provides cable television services to departments that require it.

Data Storage

CNU provides multiple channels that faculty, staff and students can use to store their files, which can be accessed using their CNU credential. Which method is preferred depends on the type of file, and how it is to be used on campus.

Internet Access

CNU provides the ability for any faculty, staff and students with active SSO credentials to use their network access to also access the internet. Multiple networks can provide this access depending on device and need.

Network Access

CNU provides access to on and off campus network resources through both wired and wireless access to faculty, staff, students and visitors. Access is segmented by user and device type.

The operation of daily classes and events at CNU often depends on the presence of key audiovisual structures. CNU ITS maintains responsibility for the tools and maintenance involved with our standard AV setup.

Learning Management

CNU provides a suite of online tools to facilitate teaching and learning. These allow faculty to distribute materials, conduct assessments and calculate grades.

IT Professional Services

IT Communication

CNU ITS uses multiple means to communicate our regular operations to other members of campus, as well as receive communications about actions needing our attention.

IT Procurement

Procuring tech materials on CNU's campus requires the involvement of CNU ITS. This is in order to ensure that any tools brought onto campus meet the requirements needed to safely integrate the tools into existing networks and systems, as well as centralize any licensure involved in procurement.

Knowledge Base

The IT Knowledge base contains information and instructions on CNU-supported technology tools and systems.

Project Management

The Project Management office provides guidance and support for the process of any large-scale implementation or modification of IT systems. They provide a framework for tracking milestones, assignments and work. In addition, they assist with the full documentation of project activities and changes.

Support

For one-time requests regarding tech not functioning as intended faculty, staff and students can reach out to the Helpdesk for immediate assistance.

Tech Vetting

CNU IT maintains a responsibility to review any new technology proposed for implementation on campus. This review will include, but not be limited to, discussions of cost, usage and potential security concerns.

Training and Consultations

CNU IT maintains a philosophy of providing education on the tech offerings provided whenever needed. Thanks to the Academic Technologies team, a wide variety of training opportunities are provided throughout the year for faculty and staff.

Public Safety

Electronic Locks

Spaces on campus that require an additional level of physical security (ex. labs) may request an electronic lock. Access to this lock would be limited to specific personnel via their CNU ID card.

Emergency Notification

On the rare occasion that a public safety emergency happens on campus, it is crucial that every member of the campus be reachable as quickly as possible. CNU employs multiple emergency notification methods designed to reach all campus personnel through any digital means necessary.

A comprehensive set of security tools native to devices running Microsoft. Serves as a native antivirus software, as well as providing protection from ransomware and other attacks.

Identity and Access Management

CNU provides dedicated credentials to every member of the faculty, staff and student body at the University, which can be used to access a number of accounts and systems. CNU ITS is responsible for maintaining the integrity and accessibility of these credentials on a day-to-day basis.

Information Security Policy

In order to maintain secure information systems and networks, it is important for CNU ITS to have a standard set of policies and procedures for how all actions on campus should be undertaken.

Risk Identification and Management

A key element in preserving the security of CNU's IT networks and systems is being able to identify potential threats before they become actual threats. IT Security's dedicated processes for risk management are designed around such identification, and preventing threats from having an impact on campus whenever possible.

VPN Services

Users who are working from off-campus can connect to on-campus technology resources through a Virtual Private Network (VPN). Faculty and staff that have a need to access on-campus technology resources from off-campus must be approved for access.
